Chapter 1

Start of Gaming

Let me tell you about this person I have known for a very, very long time. So long, it has almost been my whole life.

When this person was young, he got into a lifelong hobby of games. He had been shown by his father the games he had made on his computer and other games that were there as well. This was a long time ago when you had to insert a floppy disk into the computer and load it up. This load-up time for a game would take up to an hour sometimes. So naturally, like a good young boy, he would come home from school and start the load-up of a game. After that, he would do and finish his homework while it was loading.

Then one day, his parents got him a Seat Master system for Christmas. He was thrilled and played that all the time, even throughout the night. It was then he knew what his hobby and passion would be.

This sparked other passions, deeper into gaming with board games. He would play these games with his sister. The problem was he wanted to play all the time, but it was hard to find someone else who would play too. So often, he had to resort to just playing video games by himself, even though he would rather play board games.

He had friends as well, but most didn’t like board games or video games. Some preferred the Nintendo over Sega. Also, his family had to move a lot, so it was always hard for him to keep friends and make new ones. So he resorted mostly to just playing by himself, which was fine. He didn’t mind, and it was no harm to him or anybody, well, at least not yet.

In those younger years, he found great happiness in his games, and of course, he had other hobbies like other kids as well. He would make model warplanes, ride bikes, and play war outside with friends. But he was happiest playing alone. His parents would constantly supply him with games and the latest new gaming systems of the time. It should be said that his parents were also happy to keep him home and safe, for he had a dangerous blood condition when he was a baby, and they feared and worried about him in any physical or sports activities. So, like him, they were happy he was home and safe. That didn’t bother him at all, for he had fun on his own, though a little lonely.
